Princess Maria Carolina’s Wedding

Yesterday at the Basilica San Miniato al Monte in Florence, Italy, Princess Maria Carolina of Bourbon-Parma married Albert Brenninkmeijer. Maria-Carolina is the daughter of Princess Irene of the Netherlands, who is the sister to Queen Beatrix. Therefore, there were many royal guests in attendance.

From the Queen’s family came Queen Beatrix, Prince Wilem-Alexander, Princess Maxima, Princess Mabel (nice to see her out and about after what has happened to her husband), Prince Constatijn, Princess Laurentien and their three children, Countess Eloise, Count Claus-Casimir and Countess Leonore.

From Princess Margriet’s family came Princess Margriet, Prince Maurits, Princess Marilène, Prince Bernhard, Princess Annette, Prince Pieter-Christiaan, Prince Floris, Princess Aimée and their two children, Magali and Eliane van Vollenhoven.

From Princess Christina’s family came Princess Christina, Bernhard Guillermo, Eva Guillermo, Nicolas Guillermo and Juliana Guillermo.

From the bride’s family, also known as Princess Irene’s family, came Princess Irene, Prince Carlos, the Duke of Parma; Princess Margarita, Tjalling ten Cate and their daughter Julia ten Cate and Prince Jaime.

Other royals in attendance were Princess Maria Teresa of Bourbon-Parma, Prince Georg Friedrich of Prussia, Princess Sophie of Prussia, Fürst Aloys-Konstantin of Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg and the Hereditary Prince Alexander of Isenburg.

The Thames Jubilee Pageant

Next, of course, was the Diamond Jubilee River Thames Pageant. This was the pinnacle of the celebrations. It was held on June 3rd and (in typical British weather fashion) it was cold a nd rainy. However, everyone seemed happy and glorious. There were so many royals in attendance that were not photographed that it makes it difficult to say exactly who was there. We do know the of course the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Harry, the Earl and Countess of Wessex, James the Viscount Severn, Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor, the Duke of York, Princess Beatrice of York, Princess Eugenie of York, Princess Anne and Timothy Laurence attended. The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent, Princess Alexandra of Kent, Julia Ogilvy, Alexander Ogilvy, Prince Michael of Kent, Princess Michael of Kent, Lord Frederick Windsor and Lady Frederick Windsor were also in attendance. It is also thought that the younger generation of royals were there- the children and grandchildren of the Duke of Kent, Princess Alexandra and the Duke of Gloucester.
